Qualcomm has inaugurated the presence of its newest mobile chipset. High-end smartphone models that will use Snapdragon 845.
Newer chips are equipped with many new features. Starting from a more powerful CPU and GPU. Up to Gigabit LTE support and artificial intelligence processing or Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Qualcomm classifies these new features into the five main pillars of Snapdragon 845.
Immersion of Snapdragon 845
Snapdragon 845 delivers stunning visual content with Andreno 630 graphics processing mixer (GPU) and Spectra 280 image signaling processor (ISP).
The combination of these two components led to a number of new features. Such as the ability to record slow-motion HD video up to 480 fps. Multi Frame Noise Reduction for photos, VR and AR acceleration, and ultra HD premium video with 10-bit color depth.
Qualcomm prepares Snapdragon 845 as the artificial intelligence processing center (AI). Trio CPU Kyro 385, GPU Adreno 630, and DSP Hexagon 685 in charge of processing AI.
The processing performance of AI Snapdragon 845 is three times higher than Snapdragon 835. Various new possibilities related to AI implementation are open. Starting from a smarter assistant problem, to the effect of “haze” in the photo without the need for dual cameras.
Inside Snapdragon 845 is embedded Secure Processing Unit (SPU). The system is equipped with a random number generator to create keys in digital transactions. Meanwhile by implementing hardware-based security, Qualcomm claims Snapdragon 845 is better able to ward off hacker attacks.
Snapdragon 845 supports biometric keys in the form of three dimensional face mapping. In other words, Android phones based on Snapdragon 845 can use biometrics.
The connectivity sector that became one of Qualcomm’s core businesses must have changed. Snapdragon 845 has the latest 4G LTE X20 modem. But, with transfer rates reaching 1.2 Gbps, via 5x Carrier Aggregation, 4×4 MIMO, and License Assisted Access.
Snapdragon 845 supports dual-SIM dual-VoLTE. So both SIM cards can use 4G LTE network. In addition, with broadcast capabilities, devices can connect to many other Bluetooth devices simultaneously without the need for a gateway.
Like Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm still uses 10nm fabrication process for Snapdragon 845.
Qualcomm also added level 3 cache to boost performance further. As a result, the performance of Snapdragon 845 was 30 percent higher than Snapdragon 835. But the power consumption is lower.
When the battery needs charging, the Quick Charge 4+ feature promises to fill 50 percent within 15 minutes. Assuming it has a battery capacity of 2,700 mAh.
